Founder of Killax Recordings and having released on labels such as SKYLAX, Made Fresh Daily and Say Ahh! to name a few. at only 21, Kid Mark is proving to be one of the hottest prospects around so we were delighted to catch up with him for a little interview and he was kind enough to do an hours guestmix  We are delighted to have Kid Mark join the Swink Music family also with his forthcoming split E.P with Nick Beringer called The Underground Unit E.P which is due out on Vinyl in Feburary.

ENGLISH VERSION: 
1) You're only 21 and yet you have released your music on some big labels as well as running you're own one "Killax Recordings" how do you find the time to do Both? and what advice would you give to emerging DJ's / Producers?

First of all, I would like to thank the guys of Swink Music and all those who read this little interview. Well, yes, it's not very simple to run the two things together, but I try to spend all the free time I have available in these two projects. Music is a part of me and my life, so when I get back home from work I turn on my equipments and try to put down all my ideas. As advice for a guy who is a beginner in producing and DJaying, I'd say to listen listen and listen to lots of music; to do a lot of research to better understand the right sound for him and understand the road to take in the future. And to never give up even a second . Unfortunately in this business there are many pauses, at the beginning, where you don't know what to real do. In that time you have to work hard in studio to produce and behind the console when you will have the opportunity.

2) What is your single largest influence in House music and how do you apply it to your production?

Well ... Before being a producer, I'm also a great listener and even if it seems strange I usually listen to a lot of music mostly hip hop (U.S.). Listening all over I can sometimes I find that particular sound, that kick, that bass, that strange drum that makes me say in my mind "Oh s**t, I want to do something like this!." Then I think for a melody which these sounds are okay with and then I try to reproduce the best I can do in the studio. So I can say that the thing that influences my music productions is the music itself.

3) Where do you see the direction of this electronic music going in the future?

I think that in the future of electronic music: producers, DJs etc ... will have a crossroads: either follow the wildest digitization of the "business" with the lots of equipments that will come out, or follow the way more "nostalgic", to stay at the origins of it .Personally I try to follow the second of these two ways. In fact, the music I usually produce as a producer and playing as a DJ totally reflects my choice.

4) Is collaborating with other producers something you enjoy doing? or do you like to focus on your own productions?

I find very interesting to collaborate with other artists! You always hear new sounds, you can see how another artist works. It's certainly a way to learn something! An interesting experience! Usually, I love to create a starting groove; something only with the drums, and compare it with the one who started working with me done.

5) What are your top 5 favorite tunes ever?

I have a billion songs that I love and that I'm listening from years and years, but I'll try anyway to give you five names for the genre "House". 1 - Andres - Moments In Life 2 - K.C.Y.C. - I'm Not Dreaming (Mystipsychotix Mix) 3 - Chez Damier - Can You Feel It (MK Dub Dubby) 4 - Boo Williams - Mortal Trance 5 - Terra Deva - Inside (Naked Music NYC Remix)

6) What future plans do you have for Killax and of course you as a DJ / Producer? Do you have any new projects lined up?

At the moment, regarding Killax, we took a small break for the fact that recently Mickael (the guy who founded it with me) decided to take another way and start a new project with friends in France. But don't worry! We will be back soon more fresh than ever and we will press our releases on vinyl only! Soon I will communicate the name of a friend who will assist me in the project. We will propose a lot of good music on vinyl! Not the usual sounds that you can hear everyday. Regarding my career as a dj / producer I have many many releases that will come out this year, on vinyl and digital. In these days will be dropped the wax on Swink Music that will have a track of mine and a great remix of Fabio Monesi on the B side; and two other beautiful tracks on the other side with Nick Beringer and Manuel Regnet. In the coming months will also come out my other vinyls on some other great labels around the world: A Fistful Of Wax 3 of Skylax Records (France); Say Ahh! Records (USA) with a great big remixer I'll reveal later; Jazzy Butterfly Records (Belgium) with a remix of James Johnston and finally on another great label with which I'm signing in these days. I have also some other digital releases (Ep and remixes) on: Made Fresh Daily (UK), Freche Früchte (UK), MLH (FR), Frole (IT) and Wound Music (IT). As a dj I have some gigs here in my city: Verona. And soon I'll also will communicate a couple of European gigs I have recently proposed.

7) How does the electronic scene in Italy compare to the rest of Europe?

Here in Italy we have really good producers, who have pressed some great music. Usually these guys are mostly also a dj! Here in Italy it's very difficult to emerge as a DJ / producer because all the art directors give too little space to those who truly deserve it. In fact, I could make a long list of italian talents who don't have gigs in Italy and on the contrary "they rock" abroad. I hope that this situation will change soon! There are some beautiful Italian situations, with awesome underground music; but they are very small at the moment. They deserve much more support! I hope you enjoy my podcast  See you soon folks! Intanto vorrei salutare I ragazzi di Swink Music e tutti quelli che leggeranno questa mia breve intervista. Beh si, non è molto semplice concatenare le due cose; ma cerco comunque di dedicare tutto il tempo libero che ho a disposizione in questi due progetti. La musica fa parte di me e della mia vita, quindi appena torno a casa dal lavoro accendo la mia strumentazione e cerco di metter giù tutte le mie idee. Come consiglio ad un ragazzo che è alle prime armi nel produrre e nel fare il dj, darei quello di ascoltare ascoltare ed ascoltare prima di tutto tanta tanta musica. Di fare tanta ricerca, per capire al meglio il suono giusto per lui e per capire la strada che vorrà prendere il futuro. E di non mollare mai neanche un secondo. Purtroppo in questo mestiere ci sono molte pause morte, agli inizi; dove non sai che fare. Proprio in quel momento bisogna darci dentro ed impegnarsi al massimo in studio a produrre ed a suonare quando si avrà l'occasione.

Beh…Prima di essere un produttore, sono anche un grande ascoltatore di musica e se anche sembrerà strano ascolto molta musica per lo più hip hop (Statunitense). Ascoltando qua e la scovo magari quel suono particolare, quella cassa, quel basso, quella drum strana che mi fa dire nella mente “c***o, voglio fare una cosa del genere!”. Penso poi ad una melodia con quale stiano bene questi suoni ed infine cerco di riprodurla al meglio in studio. Quindi posso dire che la cosa che influenza la mia produzione musicale è la musica stessa.

3) Where do you see the direction of this electronic music going in the future?

Io penso che come sempre anche nel futuro della musica elettronica: producers, djs etc... avranno un bivio davanti: o seguire la più sfrenata digitalizzazione del “mestiere”, con le miriadi di strumentazioni supertecnologiche che usciranno; oppure seguire la via più “nostalgica” per rimanere alle origini di essa. Personalmente io cerco di seguire la seconda delle due strade. Anche il genere che comunque produco e suono come dj rispecchia in pieno questa mia scelta.

4) Is collaborating with other producers something you enjoy doing? or do you like to focus on your own productions?

Io trovo molto interessante collaborare con altri artisti! Si ascoltano sempre nuovi suoni, si ha modo di vedere come un altro artista lavora e quindi è sicuramente un modo per imparare qualcosa! Un’ esperienza interessante! Solitamente, mi diverto molto a creare delle groove di partenza, qualcosa solo di strumentale; e confrontarlo con quello di chi ha iniziato la collaborazione con me.

Per quanto riguarda Killax al momento abbiamo preso una piccola pausa per il fatto che da poco Mickael (il ragazzo che ha fondato la label insieme a me) ha deciso di intraprendere un’altra strada e di iniziare un nuovo progetto con amici in Francia. Ma non preoccupatevi! Torneremo prestissimo più carichi che mai e stamperemo le nostre uscite solo su vinile! Presto comunicherò anche il nome di un amico che mi affiancherà nel progetto. Proporremo molta buona musica su vinile! Non le solite sonorità che si sentono tutti i giorni. Per quanto riguarda invece la mia carriera di dj/producer ho molte molte releases che usciranno quest’anno; sia su vinile che in digitale. A giorni uscirà proprio il disco su Swink Music che vedrà me ed un gran remix di Fabio Monesi sul B side; mentre altre due bellissime tracce sull’altro side di Nick Beringer e Manuel Regnet. Nei prossimi mesi inoltre, usciranno altri miei dischI stampati su vinile, su altre grandi label della scena house mondiale: A Fistful Of Wax 3 su Skylax Records (Francia); Say Ahh! 7) How does the electronic scene in Italy compare to the rest of Europe?

Qui in Italia abbiamo dei producers veramente molto molto bravi, che da anni stampano ottima musica. Solitamente questi sono per lo più anche dj! Qui in Italia è molto difficile emergere come dj/produttore per colpa dei direttori artistici dei locali che danno troppo poco spazio a chi veramente merita. Potrei infatti fare una lista infinita di bravissimi dj italiani i quali non hanno date in Italia mentre “spopolano” all’estero. Spero che questa situazione cambi al più presto! Qualche bella situazione italiana c'è, ma sono realtà molto piccole. Meriterebbero molto più supporto! Rinnovo i saluti a tutti quanti! Spero il mio podcast vi piaccia  A presto gente! Kid Mark
